The first appointment

Where does misalignment come from?

The most common problems are caused by:

• deformation of the dental arches caused by thumb or finger sucking;
• the tongue pushing forward during swallowing;
• mouth breathing, which alters the resting posture of the tongue;
• teeth that are too large for the size of the mouth, or the reverse;
• a growth discrepancy between the two jaws;
• one or more missing teeth (agenesis);
• teeth impacted or retained within the jaw.
